Girl, 6, diagnosed with cancer after family told she 'looked too healthy' to have a tumour

The parents of a six-year-old girl who has been left completely blind after brain surgery said doctors told them the little girl "looked too healthy" to have a tumour.

Paige Jury-Lynn, from New Zealand, suffered severe headaches for over 18 months and her mother said she would "wake up screaming in pain".

Parents Katrina Jury-Lynn and Cory Jury said they took Paige to a doctor multiple times, but were given vitamins after being told she had migraines, Stuff reported.

Ms Jury-Lynn said she even asked their GP if it could be a tumour and claims she was told: "No she looks too healthy."

In December, Paige started losing her eyesight and an MRI revealed the tumour on the right side of her brain.

Doctors discovered it had spread to her spine and she was given only days to live without surgery.

"She would have been dead by the time of her appointment," Mr Jury said.

She was operated on the following morning and has been left completely blind.

The little girl has started a six-week radiation treatment and doctors have given her a 50 per cent chance of beating the brain cancer.

Her parents said they hope their story encourages others to get a second opinion if they think something is not right.

"We could lose everything because someone didn't do their f***ing job. I don't want this to happen to anyone else." Mr Jury said.

Paige's aunt set up a Give a Little page to raise money for the family.

"We are praying Paige makes a quick and speedy recovery and staying strong and positive her her mum and dad," a post on the page read.
