Petition calls for laughing coward punch offender to be deported
Almost 15,000 people have signed a petition for the man behind a sickening coward punch attack in Surfers Paradise to be deported.
Caleb Maraku, 19, posed for selfies and laughed as he left court earlier this month.
It followed his sentencing after footage of the attacked emerged showing him punching another teenager in the head, causing him to lose consciousness.
He was sentenced to 12 months’ probation after pleading guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm.
Maraku also pleaded guilty to breaching a banning order, which prohibited him from being in Surfers Paradise, where the attack occurred.
