Family calls for help to find missing pet pig 'Humphrey'

A Perth family has made a desperate plea for the safe return of their missing pet.

It's not a cat or a dog, but a much-loved pig that was given to a teenage boy for his birthday.

Known as Humphrey, the pig managed to escape the family's property last Sunday and hasn't been seen since.

A 50kg miniature pig, Humphrey was living at a Canning Vale home when he made his escape.

"We miss him so much he was just a part of the family you know," Cherry Thompson said.

Neighbours say they saw someone take Humphrey from the front of the property. So the family put up a sign in the hopes of seeing their beloved pet again.

Since then a man has come forward and told the family he took Humphrey. He thought the pig was feral so he put Humphrey in his car and dropped him in the bush.

Curtis, 15, was given Humphrey for his birthday two years ago.

"We all love him and just want him home," he said.

It was his sister Cherry who managed to convince their parents to get a pig.

"When we first got him and he was in the laundry every night we'd get a mattress and sleep in there with him," she said.

When Humphrey got bigger they converted their cubby house into a five-star pig sty with a day bed and mud bath included.

The Thompsons were renovating the enclosure when Humphrey got out.
