Woman hit by a propeller in a boating accident

A Gold Coast woman has been left with horrific injuries after she became stuck behind the propeller of a boat.

The woman, aged in her 40s, was trying to moor at Wave Break Island in Broadwater on Saturday.

She was doing rope work behind the vessel when authorities say it began to reverse.

Fishermen, divers and off duty nurses raced to her aid making improvised tourniquets out of ski ropes and beach towels to stem the blood loss until help arrived.
