Couple welcome quadruplets after nearly a decade of trying to fall pregnant

A Melbourne couple have welcomed quadruplets into their world after spending nine years trying to have children.

It was a long wait for new parents Mariam and Mohammed Hussaini - but their four boys were certainly in a hurry to meet them, arriving 10 weeks early.

It's expected that the quads will stay in hospital for six weeks as their health and progress is monitored.

"At the moment they are very tiny and they all look the same," Mr Hussaini said.

Asked if they had named their children yet, the new dad laughed.

"Maybe just numbers [for now].

"Number one, number two, number four!" he laughed.

The quads were born at the Monash Medical Centre in Clayton.
