'It's not right': Mum pleads for return of disabled daughter's iPad stolen by thieves

A young disabled Perth woman has been targeted by cowardly thieves who pushed her off her bike and stole her only means of communication – an iPad.

The 23-year-old’s mum can’t understand why her daughter was singled out after she was pushed off her mobility bike by two men at the Carine Open Space and robbed on Thursday about 10am.

“At the moment I think we are just all in shock that someone could do this to someone so vulnerable,” the mum said.

“She keeps pointing to her legs because they're all cuts and bruises and stuff.”

The woman, who needs around-the-clock care, was with her carer at the time.

But the 23-year-old’s carer said that instead of targeting her, they deliberately aimed for the disabled woman.

“I had a backpack on my shoulder that they could have easily taken and they didn't,” she said.

In the bag the men stole was an iPad with a special app the woman had been using to communicate.

Without it, she’s completely silenced.

"For 18 months or more she's had this iPad and she's done amazing things with it,” her mother said.

“There's even part of the app , it's a feelings app ... she can’t tell us if she's scared or upset. It's all gone.”

The men are described as being fair skinned, of medium height and with slim builds.

“It's just not right,” she said.
