A resident in the cul-de-sac told Seven News she heard someone knocking on her door and a neighbour's door around the time of the robbery. It’s believe they were the same gang casing out houses before picking their target.

Bond University criminologist Terry Goldsworthy said car-jackings were “very high-risk crimes” because witnesses see who’s stealing the car and may be able to identify the culprit.

“In a lot of these cases we're seeing quite a good clean up rate by police because not much thought is going into the crimes being committed by the offenders,” Mr Goldsworthy said.
