Chilling CCTV shows couple staggering into Melbourne Subway after stabbing

WARNING - GRAPHIC CONTENT: CCTV footage shows the moments after a man and woman were stabbed outside a Melbourne 7-Eleven.

Police say the pair were assaulted with an edged weapon outside the store at the corner of Flinders and Elizabeth St about 4.30am on Monday.

Footage shows the man stumbling in to the next door Subway while clutching his stomach.

He raises the alarm with the workers and a short time later the woman can also be seen running in to the Subway.

Both were treated on the scene by police and paramedics before being taken to hospital.

The man, aged in his 30s, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

The woman, also aged in her 30s, was taken to the Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

A crime scene has been established.
