Autopsy results released for koala found nailed to post

WARNING - GRAPHIC CONTENT: The RSCPA has released its findings for a koala found screwed to a timber post north of Brisbane.

Koala Rescue Queensland found the dead animal at Brooloo Park Lookout, near Gympie, on Wednesday after receiving reports of a koala scaling a gazebo.

"I feel sick, like throwing up," Koala Rescue Queensland spokesman Murray Chambers said on Thursday.

RSPCA investigator Michael Beatty said in “some ways, thankfully” the koala was dead when it was attached to the gazebo.

“All injuries lead to the suspicion it was hit by a car,” Mr Beatty told Yahoo7.

“We would still like anyone with information to come forward. It’s very disturbing someone would do this – nail or screw a koala near a place kids and family walk through.”

Mr Chambers said he’s never seen anything like it, and as there are no cameras in the area it’s proving hard to identify the perpetrator.

"There must be something wrong upstairs," he said.
