Man missing for five days in Victoria's Grampians found alive

A hiker missing for five days in Victoria's Grampians National Park has been found alive and said he "lost his way."

Julio Ascui, also known as Lester, had not been heard from since making a Facebook post on Friday and his car was found parked at Halls Gap two days later.

On Wednesday, police confirmed the 50-year-old father had been found alive by Parks Victoria staff sitting next to a creek.

Mr Ascui said he was lucky to have water with him and stayed near the creek so he did not run out.

The father said he felt "amazing" when he was found as he was "really thirsty."

He was seen smiling as he was reunited with his 25 friends and family who were camping out in caravans to help the search.

Mr Ascui left with bush with only minor cuts and bruises.

"Police would like to thank everyone involved in the search for Julio whose efforts have resulted in this successful outcome," a Victoria Police statement read.
