'Way too fast': Passengers injured after Virgin Australia flight's rough landing on Sunshine Coast

Several passengers aboard a Virgin Australia flight heading for Sunshine Coast have been injured following a rough landing.

Virgin flight VA1507 from Melbourne is said to have hit the runway too hard at the Sunshine Coast airport on Tuesday leaving the pilot with no choice but to divert the plane to Brisbane where an inspection on the aircraft could take place, Sunshine Coast Daily reported.

The magnitude of the impact was so severe a handful of passengers suffered shoulder injuries.

Passengers on board suggested the plane approached the airport too quickly for its scheduled landing at 10.55am.

"The safety of our guests and crew is our number one priority," a Virgin Australia spokesperson said.

"VA1507 was not able to land safely at Maroochydore Airport today, so the captain made the decision to divert to Brisbane Airport where guests were taken by bus to Maroochydore Airport.
