Why today is the least productive day of the year for Australian workers

Today is apparently Australia's most hungover day of the year.

New findings have revealed that the highest number of sickies will be taken on December 15 and many who are making it into work will be hungover.

It's also the least productive day, set to cost the economy $12.8 million, thanks to festivities held at this time of year, including the annual office Christmas party.

The study based on a survey by courier company Go People revealed how people deal with their hangovers at work, with 6.7 per cent admitting they hide in the bathroom.

Meanwhile 18.5 per cent admitted they spend the day scrolling through the internet, 19.9 per cent said they do administrative work, while 22.7 per cent said they spend most of the day talking to everyone about what happened the night before.
