Girl, 13, traumatised after finding own grandfather's tombstone in 'house of horrors' theme park ride

A girl has been left traumatised after finding her grandfather's gravestone as part of a haunted house attraction at a local theme park.

The 13-year-old girl, from Bavaria, Germany, took a trip to "Dr Lehmann's Hospital of Horror" in the town of Geiselwind before spotting the headstone complete with her grandfather's name and dates of birth and death.

The headstone is believed to have ended up in the park's possession after the girl's grandmother could no longer afford the lease on the burial plot.

The widow eventually paid a stonemason $200 to remove the headstone.

But the family were stunned when discovering the stone had ended up as part of the attraction's decorations.

"I couldn't believe it until my daughter sent me a picture of the gravestone," the girl's 62-year-old grandmother told German publication Kitzingen.

She questioned why they had failed to remove the metal lettering on the stone, before wondering whether it had been deliberate or not.

"It took a long time for me to get over my husband's death over 21 years ago and now everything is coming back — and cruelly, too."

The stonemason has since repaid the widow the removal cost and says the theme park informed him they would remove the inscription.
