WATCH: Heroic customers tackle man during alleged armed robbery

A man has been charged after an alleged attempted armed robbery of a pharmacy on the Gold Coast.

It’s alleged the 47-year-old Burleigh Waters man went behind the counter of a pharmacy on Marine Parade, Southport on Sunday about 8.20pm claiming to have a firearm.

Queensland Police alleged he made threats to use the firearm and started filling a bag with medication.

But two men who were in the store tackled and restrained him as he tried to exit before police arrived and took him into custody.

A third man joins in to hold down the robber before police arrive

One of the men suffered a broken knuckle as a result of the incident.

The 47-year-old will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.
