Parents forced to hide baby in bathroom after violence erupts outside house party

A young Perth family had no choice but to hide their six-month-old baby in a bathroom after violence erupted at an out-of-control house party next door.

A mass brawl broke out outside a home in Mends Way, Waikiki, around midnight after partygoers refused to accept the gathering was over.

As the mayhem escalated, the 17-year-old host's father was knocked unconscious while several items including a brick were hurled through neighbours' windows - narrowly missing the young child inside.

Terrified neighbours had initially tried to intervene, dragging the father to safety but the rampaging youths then set upon their homes.

“I’m a bit shaken about it... I mean I've got three kids, it's just out of control,” neighbour Rebecca said of the ordeal.

Police arrived on the scene 15 minutes after and praised the actions of the parents and surrounding homeowners.

The female host has blamed around 20 gratecrashers for the trouble after initially inviting guests via a Facebook group.

Her father was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital suffering from multiple fractures in his jaw. He underwent surgery on Sunday night.

Thankfully for the neighbours, their baby boy was unharmed.

Police say no one has been charged over the violence, with investigations still ongoing to identify those involved.
