Nurse carjacked and locked in boot by men with gun, knives
A nurse is recovering from a horrific ordeal on the Gold Coast after being carjacked, locked in the boot of his car and pushed down a hill into a fence.
The nurse, 25, was on his break near his car at Pindara Private Hospital when he was accosted by four men, one of those was armed with a gun and another two had knives in the early hours of Friday morning.
They forced him into the boot of his vehicle before making him drive to another location where they managed to force him into handing over his bank details before withdrawing around $500.
During the incident the nurse was beaten and slashed with a knife.
He was driven to Ashmore while still in the boot before the men left the car and pushed it down a hill on Kurrambee Avenue where it has rolled into a home's fence, waking residents.
"We woke up to someone through our fence, and at first I thought he was a drunk driver and I came out to render assistance and then realised that he was really badly hurt," one resident said.
"He said that he had been robbed at gunpoint by four men, one of them had a gun, one of them had knives and he had knife wounds all down his arms.
"He was just in shock, he could not even tell me his name."
The four men then fled in a white Toyota Prius before crashing a few streets away.
One of the men is in police custody, while the others fled the scene and remain on the run.
The nurse was taken to Gold Coast University hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
Police are at the scene with investigations ongoing.
