Teens face court accused of wearing 'burqas' to rob supermarket

Two teenage boys have appeared in court after being charged over the robbery of a Sydney supermarket while wearing "burqas".

The pair, both 17-year-olds, appeared at Parramatta Children's Court on Tuesday accused of holding up an Auburn Woolworths at knifepoint in August.

They allegedly escaped with $46,000 while wearing Niqabs, an Islamic head-scarf, to disguise their faces and most of their bodies.

With no criminal record of history of violence, a magistrate granted the teens bail.

"Her Honour made a fair assessment of the bail concerns, we addressed those bail concerns and bail was granted, that's it," the boys' lawyer said.

The teens were escorted out of court by family with one boy opting to cover his face with a hooded top.

They have been handed strict curfews and will return to court in January.
