Famous Aussie sunscreen faces class action

One of Australia's biggest sunscreen brands could be slapped with a class action after several of its lotions failed to meet the level of protection advertised.

Seven of Banana Boat's Aerosol Sprays offered protection well below the SPF50+ it claimed to offer on the bottle.

Law firm Bannister Law ordered the tests to be conducted by a skincare product testing company after one of their clients claimed their children had been burnt while using several of the sprays.

One sunscreen rated as low as SPF11+ during lab tests.

Bannister Law is now asking other consumers who have suffered burns while using the spray to join their client.

Banana Boat says inaccurate or insufficient application may be to blame.
