Traveller stunned by 'vegetarian' meal served on flight
Most economy travellers know not to expect the world from their in-flight meal, but nothing could quite prepare one vegetarian for the disappointment coming his way.
Steve Hogarty was travelling with Colombian airline Avianca when he asked for the vegetarian option.
It’s safe to say the journalist’s meal did not cause any food envy.
“The vegetarian meal on this flight is an apple and a pear wrapped in clingfilm, served with a knife and fork,” Hogarty revealed alongside a depressing image of his meal.

The airline’s take on a fruit salad caused an immediate stir online, with one Twitter user trying to find a positive side in the matter.
“On the plus side, your photo looks like a lovely painting."
The airline replied immediately, saying the meal was not up to scratch.
"Service is our priority, please let us know your flight date/number and also your contact information via DM.
"This is not our standard so we surely will investigate as soon as possible."
Hogarty replied by saying “I will DM you some recipe ideas”.
It quickly became apparent that he was not alone in the area of disappointing vegetarian airline meals.
On a recent @British_Airways flight I asked for a vegetarian meal and they told me they had none left, but kindly offered me chicken or beef as an alternative. I eventually got given some cheese.

this happened to me once on a long haul flight from the UK to Canada. I was given an orange and a kiwi fruit. I was starving.
