Off-duty policeman shoots dead two gunmen while holding baby in other hand

WARNING - GRAPHIC CONTENT: An off-duty police officer has shot and killed two suspected burglars at a pharmacy while holding his baby boy in his other arm.

On Saturday, Sergeant Rafael Souza went to the chemist in São Paulo, Brazil with his family to buy medicine when the two hooded men ran in to allegedly rob the store.

CCTV footage shows Sergeant Souza taking out his gun and shooting the men while holding his son.

He reportedly identified himself as a police officer before taking out his weapon and said the men were also armed, The Daily Mail reported.

After shooting the duo Sergeant Souza can be seen quickly handing the baby over to his wife, who cowered behind shelves.

She could be heard screaming for her son as the gunfire took place.

Paramedics attended to the suspects, but the were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are reviewing the CCTV footage and have seized a number of weapons.
