Devastated dog 'dies of broken heart' after being left at airport

A devastated dog died from a broken heart after she was abandoned at an airport for more than a month.

The dog, named ‘Nube Viajera’ which means ‘travelling cloud’, was left at Bucaramanga airport in Colombia for more than four weeks.

Locals tried to feed her but she was reportedly too sad to eat and in her final days the poor pooch stopped eating food all together leading her to die.

Vets who did a check on her after she died apparently labelled the cause of her death as depression, leading some to suggest she died of a broken heart.

Alejandro Sotomonte Nino, a vet from the Colombian Animal Protection Foundation, said: “The hypothesis we have is that a traveller abandoned it."

“Apparently, during the first month that the dog was at the airport, it was going through the halls looking for someone, possibly the owner," he said.

“That state of waiting deteriorated its health, to the point that she no longer received food.”
