Man fakes death to prove wife hired a hitman to kill him

Details have emerged of how a US boxing coach faked his own death with the help of police after his wife hired a hitman to have him killed.

Maria “Lulu” Sosa offered a man identified only as 'Gustavo' $2,600 to kill her husband, Ramon Sosa, 50, but did not realise the pair were friends.

Mr Sosa asked Gustavo to wear a wire to record his wife offering him the money to hand the audio over to police.

In the recording Mrs Sosa said she wanted her husband dead so she could access his money, The Sun has reported.

“Gustavo told me she was clearly serious and had held her fingers to her head, in a gun-firing gesture,” Mr Sosa said.

But after the pair handed evidence over to Texas police, they decided to make it look as if he had been shot.

"After recording his meeting with her, where Gustavo pretended to know two hitmen, we took the tape to the police, who were shocked — but came up with a great plan. They asked me to pretend to be dead, so we could show the pictures to Lulu," he said.

The officers used makeup to paint a "wound" on Mr Sosa's temple and had him lie in a shallow grave.
