Incredible footage shows kangaroo bounce between cars on Canberra street

The moment a kangaroo held up traffic as it hopped down a busy Canberra street has been caught on camera.

A driver's dashcam footage shows the bouncy marsupial heading along Northbourne Avenue on Friday morning, unfazed by the approaching cars.

The iconic Australian animal switched between the three road lanes before making its way to safety on a grassy stretch next to the pavement.

The video was uploaded to Facebook page Dash Cam Owners Australia and the post was quickly awash with jokes made over the roo's road etiquette.

"Kudos to the kangaroo... not only did he get out of the right lane almost immediately but he also held his lane quite well and pulled left before entering a driveway," one Facebook user joked.

"Just like a typical video on here, weaving between lanes like a flaming lunatic. Probably on his phone," another said.
