Wife horrified after husband returns home with drunken face tattoo

It’s only natural to fall in love with a new city, but as one hungover husband quickly found out, that doesn’t excuse you getting its name tattooed on your forehead.

British expat Paul had a lot to answer for when he rocked up home after a big night out with the words “tai wan” tattooed on his forehead and Taiwan’s independence flag tattooed on his chin.

Perhaps a little less surprising than the tattoo selection was his Taiwanese wife’s reaction.

"My wife doesn't like it. She's very angry," the 32-year-old said.

"I'm stupid.

"I love Taiwan, that's why I did this, but I wouldn't have done this had I not been drunk."

The pair met during a working holiday in the mid-2000s before settling down in the southern-west city of Kaohsiung.

Meanwhile the tattoo artist responsible wasn’t about to cop any of the blame, insisting he questioned Paul several times before going ahead with the inking.

Wei Cheng said he asked Paul several times “are you sure you want to tattoo this on your face?"

Paul’s response: "I love Taiwan. Tattoo it on my face."

When Wei warned him he could be pulled over by the police, an intoxicated Paul said he would simply change his passport photo.
