Cops finally catch serial hoon who sped off knowing they couldn't give chase

A serial hoon has finally been caught by police after evading arrest for over a year.

Nicholas Robertson-Kennedy continuously sped away from police on the Sunshine Coast, knowing they couldn't pursue his red ute due to the threat to innocent motorists.

One driver managed to capture amateur footage of one of several incidents where Robertson-Kennedy fled police before his reckless driving led to another driver smashing his car window in an act of road rage.

Earlier this year police arrested the fugitive and was handed 45 charges but the courts released Robertson-Kennedy on bail.

The driver changed cars and continued to evade police until finally a tip off led them to a home near Nambour.

"We did get a phone call from his mother, thanking us for catching him," Sergeant David Nelson said.

"Had you not got him he would have either killed someone or himself."

The 21-year-old faced 100 charges in court and will now spend a minimum of six months behind bars.
