Waitress fleeces $610,000 from 84-year-old customer she befriended

A waitress has been accused of stealing over half a million dollars from an unwitting pensioner she befriended at the restaurant she worked.

Alicia Legall, 46, led a luxury lifestyle at a cost of $610,000 after allegedly forging the 84-year-old widow's signature to fund endless luxury purchases.

Legall, a server at Arch Diner in Brooklyn, New York, first befriended the elderly customer in 2002 before she entrusted the waitress to make several purchases for her at an area drug store.

But Legall is believed to have taken advantage of the widow's trust, and went on a spending spree that included purchases from Apple, Victoria's Secret, and even holidays, The New York Post reported.

The waitress had allegedly spent years coaxing the pensioner for her personal information that included her birthday, address, social security number and banking and credit card information, officials said.

She has been charged with grand larceny and identity theft.

Legall faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted when she returns to court on December 6.
