Police release bodycam of mums overdosed in car with babies
Police in the US have released dashcam video of the moment they found two babies in the backseat of a parked SUV while their mums laid in the front passed out from a heroin overdose.
Officers from Boynton Beach, Florida, found the two babies, roughly one and two months old, with their mums Kristen O’Conner, 27, and June Schweinhart, 28, in the car after a call on October 5.
In the video an officer walks up to a man, believed to be a paramedic, who informs him of two overdoses with “two babies in the back”.
Crying is then heard from the back of the car.
The officer speaks to another emergency worker checking on the bubs before he tries to calm one of them down.
“It’s OK, it's OK,” he says before handing the infant a dummy.
The Boynton Beach Police Department’s Facebook page said the babies were brought back to the police department where “they were snuggled for several hours”.
“The Department of Children and Families responded to take custody of the babies, who were eventually turned over to family members,” police said.
The two mums, who police said met in a drug treatment program while both pregnant, have been charged with child neglect and were taken to Palm Beach County Jail after being released from hospital.

The pair allegedly snorted heroin in the car with the children in the back.
“This is an incredibly tragic situation and ultimately, the ones most affected by this are those innocent, beautiful babies,” police said.
“We hope this serves as a wakeup call for these mums, and that they seek further treatment for their addiction. We sincerely wish them all the best.”
