A lonely disabled woman has been flooded with invitations to dinner after a heart-warming Facebook post appealing for company over a Sunday roast went viral.

“No car. Very lonely. But have not got a big appetite.”

Members of the group soon responded and pretty soon Ms O’Byrne was inundated with invitations to dinner.

“Happy to come pick you up – where would you like to go, and who wants to join us?” one woman asked.

“I think we could take you for a roast. What sort of transport do you need? Or I can get one delivered to you? Let me know what you’d prefer. No one should be lonely for a roast when this group exists,” another person responded.

Ms O’Byrne was also put in touch with the local Casserole Club, which cooks free dinners for the elderly.

While the group is private, the Ms O’Byrne’s request and responses have since gone viral on Twitter with more than 8,000 re-tweets and 29,000 likes.
