From a 'grubby gambler' to berating his girlfriend in Starbucks - chilling details emerge of Vegas gunman

Details on the gunman who killed 59 people at a Las Vegas festival have been revealed, including how he berated his girlfriend in public and looked as if he "never slept".

More than 500 people were injured after retired accountant Stephen Paddock, 64, open-fired on thousands of people at the Route 91 Harvest festival from a high-rise Las Vegas hotel room on Sunday.

He then killed himself before police entered the hotel room, according to officers.

Starbucks workers told the Los Angeles Times Paddock berated his Australian girlfriend, Marilou Danley, "a lot" when she asked for his credit card to pay for the drinks.

“He would glare down at her and say ‘You don’t need my casino card for this. I’m paying for your drink, just like I’m paying for you.’ Then she would softly say, ‘OK’ and step back behind him,” Starbucks supervisor Esperanza Mendoza said.

“He was so rude to her in front of us.

“He looked like he never slept because of the large bags under his eyes.”

The workers said they were shocked when they saw Paddock's photo on television as they had been "face to face with him so many times".

Paddock’s girlfriend has since touched down in the US after flying from the Philippines to be interviewed by the FBI as part of the ongoing investigation.

Ms Danley, 62, is expected to arrive in Las Vegas from the Philippines as early as Wednesday local time.

When asked if Ms Danley was a suspect the sheriff replied: "Currently she is a person of interest."

Twenty-three guns were found in Paddock's suite and a search of a Mesquite, Nevada, home the couple lived in found 19 firearms, explosives and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
