Mysterious dead sea beast washes up on beach in the Philippines
Beachgoers were stumped when they found a mysterious creature on the shore line on a beach in the Philippines.
The 10m-long sea beast was found in the shallows off Maasin City and was unable to be idenfitied.
While there's a chance the creature could have been a whale, the body was already decomposing when people saw it, making it hard to tell what it was.
Local Nujnuj Capistrano managed to take photos of the creature and posted them to Facebook.
"I was just passing by the beach and took some photos but I don't know about the details," he said.
"I was surprised because it's too big and it's the first time I saw that kind of creature."
Photos show the creature had a large head and was grey and white in colour.
Mr Capistrano said it was already dead when he saw it.
"The smell was too bad. I can't describe it, but it was a bad smell."
His photos show locals and rescue workers at the scene.
The creature was towed back out to sea, reportedly after a decision by city officials, because it was unable to be buried because of its size.
