Shaman taken by crocodile after entering waters to find missing man

WARNING - GRAPHIC CONTENT: A shaman, who claimed to have powers that allowed him to control crocodiles, has been killed by a crocodile while searching for a missing man.

Suprianto jumped into the crocodile-infested Muara Jawa estuary in Kutai Kartanegara, Indonesia on Saturday in search of the body of another man who had recently been killed.

He remained confident his powers and chanting would keep the crocodiles at bay.

After outstretching his arms for a few moments in a chanting pose, vision shows Suprianto slowly swim forwards before he is savagely set upon.

Onlookers watched on in disbelief as his frantic struggle to stay above water fails.

The monster croc can then be seen swimming away with the shaman's body.

Kutai Kartanegara police chief Fadillah Zulkarnaen said his body was recovered on Sunday and "still intact".

Two bodies were recovered, both intact, with the other believed to be the other missing man.
