Bomb squad sent to Melbourne's east to inspect 'suspect package' found near tram depot
The bomb squad deployed robots to inspect a suspect package found near a tram depot in Melbourne's east.
An operation was underway outside the Yarra Trams depot on Glenferrie Road in Malvern, Victoria Police said.

Two robots were deployed on the evacuated street to inspect the package that appeared to consist of one, possibly two fire extinguishers and a metallic box or bag.
The suspect package has since been removed and pedestrians have been allowed back into the area.
"Please be advised police have cleared the scene after conducting safety checks on Glenferrie Road, Malvern," Victoria Police said in a press release.
"The matter was resolved shortly after 8am without incident or threat to public safety," the statement said, adding that Glenferrie Road had been "reopened between High Street and Wattletree Road".
Commuters were warned they should expect disruptions with Yarra Trams tweeting there delays to routes 5, 6, 58 and 72 while route 3 trams were being diverted along St Kilda Rd, via the 3a route.
