Burn survivor amazed by orangutan’s reaction to her scars

A burns victim who was visiting the Indianapolis Zoo has experienced a heart-warming interaction with an orangutan.

The animal, named Rocky, can be seen in the vision gently touching the glass in a bid to take a closer look at Darci Miller’s scars.

He gestures softly at Miller to seemingly remove the bandage, so he can view what’s underneath them.

As she slowly shows him her large scars, one by one, the animal appears to show sympathy towards Miller.

The stunning interaction then continues over the next few minutes and was filmed by Miller’s fiancé.

"That's crazy. He wants to see it," Miller’s fiancé can be heard exclaiming in the touching vision.

As the tear-jerking interaction continues, Rocky mimes with his hands what he would like Miller to do next.

When she later spoke about the meeting The Mirror reports Darci said, "little did I know I was going to have the best interaction with an orangutan named Rocky".

"The orangutan was completely interested in my burn scars and recent surgery sights," she said.

"I am a burn survivor from 2015, yes it has it ups and downs, but this particular day made me feel really good about myself."

Miller was working at her home in 2015 when she tried to clear out some garbage by burning it.

Instead she accidentally ignited some gas fumes in the process.

She was hospitalised for three weeks and underwent multiple surgeries reported Fox.

"I was in a coma for nine days," Miller told Fox of her recovery.

The attention is nothing new for popular Rocky.

The 12-year-old has received international attention for mimicking human sounds, the first known orangutan to do so according to Fox.
