Wooden plank nailed to boy's head after attack by bullies

WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT. A child with autism has been left with horrific injuries after bullies impaled his skull with a plank of wood and nail.

Romeo, 9, from Nottinghamshire in England, was walking home from his grandmother's house with his family when he fell behind.

The little boy was found by his father, trapped up a tree to try and escape three bullies, and managed to coax him down.

But as the pair went to walk home, one of the bullies picked up the plank and threw it at Romeo, lodging it in his skull, The Mirror reported.

Shocking photos show the nail embedded in the back of the little boy's head and blood pouring from the wound.

"It was a very scary experience. When they threw the plank I could feel it stick in the back of my head," Romeo said.

"That was the scariest part, I couldn't see it because of where it was but I knew it was there. I thought the worst and thought that I was dying."

Romeo's mother Natasha Smith, who is a nurse, rushed the little boy to hospital to have the plank removed from his skull.

He was given morphine and is now recovering at home on a course of antibotics.

Ms Smith said she is concerned the bulliying continued even in front of an adult and has contacted police.
