'I knew my dad would do this': Daughter says after dad allegedly kills mum on cruise ship

The daughter of a man who has been charged with the murder of his wife on a cruise ship allegedly told a passenger, “I knew my dad would do this”.

Kenneth Manzanares of Santa Clara, Utah, was charged after he was allegedly found with blood on his hands and clothes, and with blood spread throughout the cabin on the Princess Cruises ship last month, the FBI said.

Kristy Manzanares, 39, had a severe head wound, but authorities have declined to release other details in the case.

But passenger Jens Larsen told WMUR9 from the ship said that one of the Manzanares children had sought help as the incident unfolded.

“She was saying to my sister-in-law: ‘I knew my dad would do this. I knew he would do this’,” he said.

The couple, both 39, were childhood sweethearts who had booked a week on the ship, headed to Alaska, to celebrate their wedding anniversary with a group which included their three daughters aged 13 to 22, according to News Corp.

But the marriage soured and on the second night, after dinner, Mrs Manzanares reportedly asked for a divorce.

According to court documents, a man and other people entered the cabin the couple were staying in before medical workers and security officers had arrived and saw the woman on the floor covered in blood.

One witness identified the woman as Mrs Manzanares and the man, covered in blood on his hands and clothing, as her husband.

FBI documents say a man asked Mr Manzanares what happened and he responded: "She would not stop laughing at me".

According to FBI Special Agent Michael Watson, Mr Manzanares tried to drag his wife’s body to the balcony but a man stopped him before a security guard handcuffed the suspect.

Mr Manzanares was due to appear at a preliminary hearing on August 10 but that has been postponed for at least two weeks.
