Woman discovers boyfriend was cheating on her while she was on the brink of death in hospital

A mother discovered her boyfriend was cheating on her while she was in hospital on the brink of death from an ectopic pregnancy.

Kirsty Rathbone, 27, found her boyfriend Gary Edwards was having an affair when his mistress called her randomly and exposed the betrayal, The Sun reports.

As if that wasn't enough to take in, his mistress also revealed she was pregnant with his baby earlier in the year.

“I was devastated, I’d just lost my baby and my boyfriend," Kristy said.

The former couple met on a dating website in 2015 and after he stood her up on their first date, she decided to give him a second chance.

On their date, the pair bonded over both having daughters.

"I could tell he was someone special," Kristy said.

I knew I was falling for him.

“I introduced Gary to all my family and when they gave him the seal of approval too, I felt so lucky to have found my perfect man.”

Just a few months into their relationship, the pair decided to move in together but during the house hunting process Kristy discovered she was pregnant.

“Gary was over the moon and the news made us more determined to find a home together. Finally, our perfect family would be complete," she said.

However, the happiness didn't last long when Kristy woke up covered in blood.

After tests and surgery, she was told it was an ectopic pregnancy.

Kristy said Gary had promised he would be by her side.

“I rang Gary and he promised he’d be there for me before I went into surgery," she said.

“I felt a wave of relief. But the next day, as I was being prepped for surgery, Gary was nowhere to be seen.

“I desperately hung onto the hope that he’d arrive, but as time ticked on, I had to accept he wasn’t coming.”

Kristy explained that when she got out of surgery, Gary was waiting for her with a bouquet of flowers.

“As I sobbed for our tragic baby, Gary promised me we’d get through it. But just half an hour later he left me again to go back to work," she said.

“I let it slide and when I returned home, Gary was my rock. I felt broken, but as I mourned our lost baby, I leaned on Gary for support.”

It was Gary's suggestion that he move into her place until they found a house together.

In December 2015 the pair moved in together but it was no more than a week later that she received the devastating phone call.

“A girl at the other end asked if I was Gary’s girlfriend,” she said.

“I said yes, and she said, ‘Well so am I’.

“She told me he was even with her when I was in hospital.

“I was stunned. As I was losing our baby — and very nearly my life — he’d been cheating."

When Kristy tried calling Gary to confront him, his phone was switched off and eventually she gave up.

“A few months later Gary got in contact and I agreed to meet him for dinner. I’ll never forgive him for what he did but it was some comfort to hear the words I’d longed to hear — I’m sorry.”

Gary said he was "out of order" with the situation.

“I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to do it, I have apologised. I’m happy with my life now, I’ve got my two babies," he said.
