Pictured: Drug-addicted baby stages incredible recovery

A woman has posted incredible before and after photos of a drug-addicted baby on social media after her family adopted him.

Blaine Hamilton, 21, and her parents, from Texas in the US, are in the final stages of formally adopting her cousin Coleman after he was born with an opioid addiction.

The baby had been living with her for 15 months and recent photos show the infant with a wide smile and at a healthy weight.

When he came in the Hamiltons' care, Coleman had the stomach condition pyloric stenosis and would projectile vomit, Buzzfeed reported.

“Born w/ drug addicts as parents, neglected & weighing below birth wt @ 2 months old. then my family took him n & look @ him now #FinallyOurs,” Ms Hamilton tweeted on July 20.

Blaine's mother Kaysi said the little boy was taken by care flight to a children's hospital at just eight weeks old.

The family were contacted to see if any extended relatives could care for Coleman.

"My parents were like, "We’ll take him. We’ll go to the hospital"," Blaine said.

Coleman no longer has the stomach condition and has gained weight.

The court gave permanent custody of Coleman to the Hamilton a week ago.
