Woman charged with attempted murder after holding knife to boy's throat

A woman has been charged with attempted murder after she allegedly threatened a 13-year-old boy with a knife in Sydney on Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to South Wentworthville after reports of a 13-year-old boy was pinned to the ground with a knife to his throat.

A police constable was able to get behind the alleged offender and pulled her off the boy by her tracksuit top.

Video shows the woman holding the boy to the ground before a police officer swoops in and drags the woman backwards.

A number of police officers then rush to detain the alleged offender.

The 28-year-old alleged offender was under police guard in hospital on Thursday morning before she was charged with attempted murder among other offences.

The boy was not physically injured during the incident.

The woman, from South Wentworthville, was refused bail and is due to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Thursday afternoon.

The pair didn't know each other.
