Tributes for teen 'electrocuted' on train tracks

A teenage girl has died after she was believed to be electrocuted on a railway line in the UK.

Taiyah Pebbles, 16, was found dead on the tracks at Herne Bay station, Kent, southwest London, on Wednesday, about 7am, according to The Sun.

A British Transport Police spokesman said while a post mortem examination is due to take place on Friday, they believe they know the cause of death.

“Sadly the girl was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining serious injuries believed to be caused by electrocution,” he said.

“Her death is being treated as unexplained whilst officers make enquiries into the circumstances leading to her receiving these injuries.”

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Langley said Taiyah was last spotted with a group of friends about 11pm Tuesday.

“Sometime between then and 7am this morning she came to receive these injuries,” he said.

“Therefore, I would be looking to speak with anyone who might have been near to Herne Bay station during this period.”

Friends and family have paid tribute to the 16-year-old on social media with many saying it’s a life gone too soon.

“A beautiful life now turned a beautiful angel. Sweet dreams little one,” one user posted.

“R.I.P beautiful, you will be missed and never ever forgotten,” another said.

It follows an incident in Adelaide on Tuesday where two teenage boys were lucky to be alive after a frightening near miss at a train station north of the city centre.

The intoxicated pair fell asleep on the tracks and had to be removed by police.

The horrified train driver slammed on the brakes and got straight on the radio.

"I've just gone through Ovingham and there's two kids laying on the up track, right in the middle of the track, in the middle of the platform, and they're not moving. They're just laying on the track," he was heard saying.

The teens were questioned and searched but let go without charge.
