Teen scores pay cheque for life with $1 scratchie punt
A US teenager has scored herself a guaranteed pay cheque for decades after hitting it lucky with a $1 scratchie.
Daniela Leon Ruz, 18, from Orlando in Florida, won top prize in a Florida Lottery ‘$500 a week for life’ competition earlier this month.
The competition guarantees her US$26,000 (about AUD$32,755) per year for a minimum of 20 years.
The young winner had the choice of a $500 (AU$630) per week payment or the yearly lump sum.

She chose the latter and can now look forward to at least a couple of decades of annual lottery windfalls.
Florida Lottery said the scratchie game Ruz won had a total prize pool of about $19 million.
It said its scratch-off games were responsible for about 68 per cent of its funding, which generated US $784 million (AU$987,654,400) for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
