WATCH: Hot air balloon's terrifying forced landing over busy road
The heartstopping moment a hot air balloon was forced to land near a busy road, narrowly avoiding motorists, has been caught on camera.
The terrifying ordeal was captured by truck driver Kim Foskett on his dashcam as he travelled with his family along the A6 Market Harborough bypass in Leicestershire, England.
Video shows the hot air balloon flying over the highway as it narrowly avoids motorists passing by.
As Mr Foskett edges closer to the balloon, viewers are able to see just how close it was to landing on the road after the emergency landing.
"All of a sudden the balloon was really visible, about five feet off the ground and I thought, 'oh my God, it's going to land in the middle of the road'," Mr Foskett told The Sun.
“One driver swerved out of the way, thinking it was going to hit his car.
“I don’t think it would have, but if a lorry had been coming along, the balloon could have been in real trouble.”
Mr Foskett said he was unable to pull over at the time due to the big queue of traffic behind him.
"But we saw the basket hit the fence and the basket catapulted the pilot out," he said.
“On the dashcam footage it doesn’t look as near as it did in real life."
Mr Foskett said the balloon "must have blown off course".
