'Don't shoot': Pet parrot blows the lid on murdering wife's crime

A woman has been found guilty of murdering her husband in a case that saw a parrot witness the moment she shot him five times.

Glenna Duram blasted her husband, Martin, in 2015, before an unsuccessful suicide attempt saw her turning the gun on herself.

But the brutal crime was witnessed by their parrot, an African Grey named Bud, who repeatedly kept shouting "Don’t shoot!", in the victim’s voice to Mr Duram’s ex-wife.

Mrs Duram, 49, has now been found guilty of first-degree murder, but the pet was not used in court proceedings after a prosecutor initially considered using the parrot’s squawking as potential evidence.

Mr Duram’s mother Lillian said at the time: "That bird picks up everything and anything, and it’s got the filthiest mouth around."

Speaking after the trial ended, she described the pain of watching Mrs Duram standing ’emotionless’ in court as she awaited trial for her son’s murder.

"It just isn’t good; just isn’t good. Two years is a long time to wait for justice," she told local media.

Glenna Duram, meanwhile, is due to be sentenced next month.
