When pigs fly: Family woken by pork falling from sky

One Florida family got the shock of their lives when they discovered the loud bang they had heard in the middle of the night was in fact some frozen pork falling from the sky.

At about 4am on Saturday local time, the Adair family heard a 6kg bag of frozen pork land on their roof.

Travis Adair said it hit the roof with a "big bang".

"It was like thunder, and it awakened me out of a sleep," he told Local 10 News.

"We got up, found two packages of sausage on our side yard, and then we were like, 'OK, well, we got to go on the roof and check and see if we find more of this stuff'," Austin Adair said.

The package labelling shows the package originally belonged to Jim Williams - who lives 273km away in Myakka City.

He claimed that he bought some pigs from some children at a county fair in January but gave some away.

He said he has no idea how it got to the Adairs' roof.

There were three more packages on the roof and the package they found was on the ground.

The family threw the meat away.
