French singer Barbara Weldens, 35, suddenly collapses and dies on stage

A French singer has died during a concert after possibly being electrocuted on stage.

Barbara Weldens, 35, was performing at a church in the small French village of Goudron when she reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest.

Police are investigating the tragic death, including looking into the possible cause of an electrical malfunction, the Indepndent reported.

In the coming weeks, officers will decide "if a re-evaluation” is necessary.

Ms Weldens was performing as part of the Léo Ferré festival.

She won a Pic D’Or prize in 2016 and organisers paid tribute to the singer on Friday.

“It was with great emotion that we learned this morning of the death of Barbara Weldens, our Pic d’Or 2016 winner, at a concert last night in Gourdon in the Lot," a statement read.
