Moment cop 'plants drugs to set up suspect' caught on his OWN body camera

A police officer has been filmed by his own body camera allegedly planting drugs inside a soup can at the scene of a crime.

The footage, taken from the body camera in January, was released on Wednesday as the Baltimore officer was suspended, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Another two officers have been placed on administrative duty while an investigation takes place.

At the start of the 90-second clip, the officer appears to put a bag of white pills inside the empty tin among trash on the ground in an empty lot.

The two other officers are standing by watching before they all walk to the street.

The body camera was recording automatically, but the officer was unaware, appearing to activate it once he's back on the street.

But with the video already on, all the officer seems to activate is the sound.

The officer then tells his colleagues: "I’m gonna go check here."

The footage shows him returning to the car park to pick up the soup can with the drugs inside.

A man was arrested as a result of the drug “discovery” but the video has since prompted prosecutors to drop the heroin possession charge against him.

The accused had been in jail since January after being unable to put up $50,000 in bail.
