Bride dying of cancer granted fairytale wedding of her dreams
A wedding day can be an emotional event for most, but for Gold Coast bride Hayley Taylor her wedding day had an even greater significance, as she only has three months to live.
Last year Hayley was diagnosed with bowel cancer and the stress of her illness had delayed any marriage plans.
However, in merely three weeks a national charity organised the wedding of her dreams, granting this beautiful bride her final wish.
Over the weekend brave Haley married her long time love, Trevor Francis.
The couple met 15 years ago and it was love at first sight.
“I know this is the part when I'm meant to say let's grow old together but I know that isn't an option,” Hayley said during her wedding vows fighting back tears.
"Because of that I can say I have lived a full loved life.”
It wasn’t until Hayley’s father, Craig, contacted national charity, My Wedding Wish, that the magic truly happened.
"I knew she always wanted to get married before she died,” Craig said of his daughter’s special day.
And just like magic, three weeks later, her wish was granted.
In front of friends and family, the pair wed in an open air ceremony on Burleigh Hill.
"We find the right suppliers in the area the couple wants to have a wedding and that's how a wedding wish happen,” charity spokesperson Berte Benecke-Uhrig told 7 News.
“It's amazing it's the best day of my life,” the gushing bride told 7 News immediately following the ceremony.
The touching vows were sealed with a kiss and a pillar of strength provided by the Gold Coast community.
