Man bailed over teen kidnap, forced marriage charges to be deported
A man accused of kidnapping a teenage girl and forcing her to marry him in a secret Islamic ceremony is set to be deported to Lebanon.
It’s alleged the 31-year-old broke into the bedroom of an 18-year-old girl in Sydney.
She told police he then drove her to Melbourne and forced her to marry him before he was arrested.
The man was granted bail last Tuesday but Seven News understands he was detained by Border Force officials and taken to Villawood Detention Centre because he didn’t have the right visa.
He’ll now be deported to Lebanon as prosecutors decided what to do with the charges he’s facing.
He’s set to face court next month.
