'I was ropeable': Perth mum forced to breastfeed sitting on ground after car towed

A Kensington mother has been left stranded on the side of a busy road with young twins after a tow truck driver refused to give her baby seats back, before taking her car away.

Brooke Feeney says she had no choice but to breastfeed her four month old twins sitting on the ground.

Ms Feeney says what happened to her is inexcusable.

"I was ropeable. I was angry, upset, disappointed. I wouldn't have expected this from Perth," Ms Feeney said.

She was with her four month old boys in West Perth, when she got back to her car to find it being towed.

Her parking bay had become a clearway, five minutes earlier.

"I asked them: 'Ok, can I at least get my capsules out of the car, I can't get in another car without them'.

"And he pretty much just said: 'No, that's my job. You can't grab anything'."

The mum says she again explained her sons couldn't legally travel without them.

Again, she was told no.

"What am I supposed to do, put them in a back seat of a car unrestrained?"

Stranded with her tired, crying babies, Ms Feeney says she had no choice but to breastfeed on the ground.

She then phoned Main Roads for help, but says the manager was both unsympathetic and unhelpful.

"She just told me that it was my issue and I need to be more organised and I should've left earlier."

Ms Feeney's mum eventually came to mind the babies while she retrieved her car.

Main Roads says the truck driver had already driven off when Ms Feeney approached him and "tow truck drivers can not pull over in peak hour traffic in the CBD while under tow due to the safety risks".

That is something Ms Feeney disputes: "He was just getting in his car, so he hadn't actually left".
