Ricky Hema jailed for ice-incited rampage at Punchbowl

Ricky Hema has been sentenced to at least five years and three months behind bars after he ferociously attacked strangers in an ice-incited rampage in Punchbowl.

The 36-year-old was seen punching and kicking victims and stomping on one of their heads.

The January 2016 rampage lasted two hours and was captured by security cameras.

Hema pleaded guilty to seven offences related to five different incidents that occurred over the period of almost three hours on January 24, 2016.

In his last court appearance, Hema apologised for his actions and claimed the drug 'Ice' "ruins people's lives".

In the District Court on Monday, Judge Helen Syme said Hema was well aware that using methamphetamine caused him to feel paranoid and was associated with him committing crimes.

He was sentenced to seven years with a non-parole period of five years and three months.
