Big Bang T-shirt missing link to identifying body stuffed in Melbourne bin

Police have launched a fresh appeal to help identify a body that was found stuffed in a garbage bin in the Melbourne suburb of Preston.

A photo has been released of the T-shirt that was on the body, believed to be a man, found on Saturday morning by a garbage collector.

The shirt shows a distinctive logo of Korean band Big Bang.

It's promoting their 2015 world tour and shows a hot rod and members of the band.

Police say they are hoping the shirt will spark a response from members of the public.

"Despite following up a number of enquiries, detectives have been unable to determine the identity of the victim," a police spokesperson said.

The body is believed to be that of a man, aged in his mid-40s, of Caucasian appearance, dark hair, unshaven and 171cm tall.

The man was also wearing grey/blue Everlast tracksuit pants with two white stripes down the side and black Nike runners as well as the white T-shirt.

The death is being treated as suspicious.
